South African Post Office has issued a R1.40 stamp highlighting the plight of child abuse. The stamp depicts an adult hand holding a child's. There will also be a commemorative envelope issued which will depict a child seeking comfort from a teddy bear. South Africa has the highest rate of child abuse in the world.

So the Queen of England auctioned off part of her collection. What? You didn't know the Queen had her own stamp collection? Actually, it was started by her grandfather, King George V, and bequeathed to her upon his death. In order to raise more funds for purchasing more material for the collection, Spink's was contracted to auction off some of the duplicates from the collection. However, instead of the expected half million dollars in gross from sales, the Queen made a cool million. Not too shabby, eh? And she's already turned some of that around to acquire a first day cover with 10 Penny Black's on it.

Bet you never knew you couldn't send a chessboard to Afghanistan, did you? Or household linens to Peru? Or soil to Israel? There are a lot more worldwide postal restrictions, too. Linky via .Zannah.
